Water Retention Basin Construction

A water retention pond is constructed because of a high groundwater table. The bottom of the pond is excavated below the water table elevation to establish a permanent pool.   The outlet of the pond is placed at or above the desired pool elevation.

Water is diverted to a wet retention pond by a network of underground pipes connecting storm drains to the pond. This system allows for large amounts of water to enter the pond, and the outlet lets out small amounts of water as needed to maintain the desired water level.
